Server Security

Hardening the operating system, uninstalling the unused programs and the locking down of the services is of paramount importance of the network and system administrators.  Windows Server operating systems can be protected from the internal and external threats and other security vulnerabilities by implementing the following tips.

  • Monitor all your serves with the monitoring software.
  • Update your server with the latest services packs and patches.
  • Configure software or hardware firewall.
  • Serve only one type of the network service on a single computer such as domain controller, IIS, proxy server, print server and file server.
  • Use the NTFS file system on all the drives.
  • Disable unused service.
  • Use up-to-dated antivirus and anti spyware program on your server computer and regularly scan it with them.
