Introduction to Keyboard
Computer’s keyboard is a peripheral device that is attached to the computer externally. It’s a primary input device that enables the users to enter the data in the computer. It’s typically an arrangement of the keys. Approximately all the keyboards produce the numeric, characters and symbols. There are many manufacturers of the keyboards like Asus, Dell, Compaq, Acer Fujitsu and IBM. Keyboards are similar to the typewriters but they have some additional keys. The standard sequence and the layout of the characters, numeric and the symbols is known as QWERTY.
It uses the same arrangements of the keys as the standard type writer. There are three major types of the keyboards 1. PC keyboard (84 keys) 2. AT Keyboard (84 keys) and the enhanced keyboard with 101 keys. The IBM keyboards contains special keys like Page up, Page down, Pause, Numlock, Scroll, Insert, Backspace, Caps, Print Screen, tab and cursor movements keys etc. There is a different arrangement of connecting the keyboard with the computer such as it can be connected through the PS/2 and USB connections.
In the past few years, the wireless keyboard has become very popular due to the ease and freedom of usage it provides. It contains the combination of the transmitter and receiver unit that attaches to the computer’s keyboard port. The wireless keyboard works by transmitting the radio and infrared signals. The other alternatives of the regular keyboards are the multimedia and gaming keyboards. The heavy use of the keyboard may cause the carpel tunnel syndrome so the ergonomic keyboards have been developed and being used by many users around the world.
